We fund research into SMA to help find a cure and treatments

Story

Ruby was born on the 19th December 2014 and was our beautiful perfect baby girl. Ruby completed our family along with her 2 older brothers and 1 older sister and was adored by all.

Unfortunately at only 8 weeks of age Ruby was taken very poorly and was rushed into intensive care and was placed into a coma at The Addenbrookes hospital in Cambridge. It was here that she was diagnosed as having parainfluenza, pneumonia and both her lungs had collapsed. The infection had spread into Ruby's bloodstream and the future looked very bleak.

It was during this time that we called upon the help of our staff at our Ice Hockey team, The London Haringey Racers, to help us organise an event and raise money for The Sick Children's Trust, who were housing and supporting our family whilst Ruby was in hospital.

The Ruby's Racers were formed and we embarked on a 10k walk through the streets of London. Over 50 of us took part and we tripled our £1000 target to £3000.

Before the walk took place in May 2015, Ruby fought and made a recovery and was able to come home. However, devastatingly Ruby had an underlying disease which we knew nothing about.

Whilst in Spain in April this year, Ruby took another turn for the worst and was rushed to Arrixaca Hospital in Murcia where she was diagnosed with having Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1, a disease for which there is sadly no treatment or cure.

On the 20th April this year, our precious beautiful Ruby closed her eyes and went to sleep for the last time and became an angel in the sky aged only  4 months and 1 day.

Our lives will never be the same and although nothing could ever bring our angel back to us, Ruby's Racers need your help again!

We are on a new mission to raise as much money as possible for The SMA Trust, a charity dedicated to find a cure for this terrible devastating disease.

Please help us help The SMA Trust and donate as much as you can so that one day, no more parents have to suffer the loss of a child and no more children have to become angels before their time.

Thank You
