You may be aware of the School's links with Future Hope, a charity set up by an Old Rugbeian Tim Grandage (Whitelaw 71 – 76) in 1988.  Future Hope was established to provide a home, education, medical aid and opportunity to the street children of Calcutta.

Since Tim gave the third Arnold Foundation Lecture in January 2006 links between Future Hope and Rugby have developed.  An annual GAP Year placement for a Rugbeian is now in its second year and we are sending two staff out to Calcutta this summer as the first part of what will be an ongoing staff exchange programme.  In September 2008 a pupil from Future Hope will be coming to Rugby supported by the Arnold Foundation.  You will know from your children that Tim came back to Rugby in March this year to talk to the whole school about his remarkable work.

We as a community have a real opportunity to make a significant difference to the work of Future Hope, which is in keeping with the long-standing Rugby tradition of service to others, when on 9 September the whole Rugby community will take part in a sponsored walk. We hope that everyone taking part will walk at least 10 miles on the day. Our aim is to raise as large a sum of money as possible to allow Future Hope to develop the school that they have set up, by building and equipping a library and rooms to teach science and music.

This all depends on every pupil collecting as great an amount of pledged sponsorship as possible. Your support for your children in this task will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks for all your help and support in what promises to be a memorable day for the pupils at Rugby and most importantly in Calcutta.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Future Hope will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support.
