Walsingham Return Cycle Challenge · 22 July 2016 to 24 July 2016 ·

St Martin's needs to raise £100k to meet the cost of re-roofing the North and South Chapels. Without these funds serious damage could be done to the Church which has stood here since the thirteenth century. Please give what you can so that St Martin's church can be here for generations to come.

Story

The idea was born in 'The Bull' in Walsingham, as the men's pilgrimage from St. Martin's, Ruislip considered ways of raising funds for the New Life Project.

We settled on Walsingham as a destination, because at around 140 miles it presented a significant challenge, and there are long-standing links between St. Martin's and Walsingham.

We are a team of six cyclists of varied experience and range from 11 years to mid-life crisis.

St. Martin's has been a presence in Ruislip for almost a thousand years, from ancient village to the busy Metroland town of today. The walls of this historic and beautiful church have echoed to the prayers of the many generations who have worshipped, been baptised, confirmed, married and buried there.

This ancient and important building receives no state aid for its upkeep and urgently needs funds to replace the failing roof of the north and south aisles. The sound and lighting systems are also no longer fit for purpose and need to be replaced.

Please support our ride and help to secure this wonderful building for future generations.
