Official Edinburgh Marathon 2010 · 23 May 2010 ·

Every day 250 people in the UK start losing their sight. With your help, we can be there when people need us most, support independent living, create an inclusive society and prevent avoidable sight loss. Every pound you raise will help create a future where sight loss is no longer a barrier.

Story

So...... I bet you’re asking 'why oh why would I be crazy enough to run a marathon?'..... The answer is Runa convinced me it would be a great idea! Months later, I’m aching, my feet are covered in blisters and I find myself running for hours on end on the weekend when I could be sat on my ass!.... So I figured I should try and make a bit of money for charity.

The team my husband works for are supporting the RNIB this year..... As a kid, many  moons ago he whiled away his evenings playing football down Victoria Park, he’ll tell anyone who’ll listen how he played football against David Beckham in Wembley (he was 14  - I’m convinced the coach must have felt sorry for him).  Anyway, I think that might be why he was choked when he got to see the images of young blind / partially sighted kids thoroughly enjoying playing football. (The ball was brightly coloured and had a bell in it). When he found out that the son of one of his fellow team members’was in the pictures he was even more touched.

That’s why I picked this charity! – If it was my child, I’d get so much joy out of seeing them enjoy themselves the way we all used to when we were kids..... I hope you feel the same and also feel the need to donate to worthy charity!
