MY STORY

Intro...

On Wednesday 2 October 2013, I received a text from Leesa Reeve Daniels; I'd left several messages inviting Gav and Leesa to a few events and hadn't had a response. I assumed this was down to us all leading such busy lives now,  a far cry from the heady days at Smash Hits living it up in what I can only term now as 'fantasy muso land' when we lived in each others pockets (along with various pop stars!)

I only read the message when wandering off to my Pilates class early next morning. It took me a moment or two to digest exactly what I was reading. I was floored. I was speechless and devastated by the words that Gavin had pancreatic cancer and he was due to have a biopsy that Friday to determine the prognosis. Tuesday 22 October - it was confirmed that Gav was to have 12 sessions of brutal Chemo (he's so fit and hardcore apparently!)

Chumotherapy extraordinaire...

Fast forward to January 2014 and a fabulous event organised by Sally Eyden - GAVAID! This developed  from a small pub quiz idea to an incredible night at the Hippodrome with over 400 people and 30+ teams from the wonderful world of media challenging each others showbiz knowledge and with good humour! (have to mention at this point that my team Dr Legg and the Metrognomes - WON! (thx to Mark Frith and of course the other team members!) So far the amount raised is well over 30k - rather amazing...for one inspirational and incredible guy...

Cleggotherapy...and RUN-GAVAID...

So...I'd like to do my bit and try to add another £1500. How? Well I couldn't run around the block when I started running and looked rather like Phoebe from friends! Margaret Heffernan once signed off a rather large taxi bill for me on the basis that I walked so slowly, I'd never actually make any meetings without wheels! The fastest I ever moved was when there was a JD and coke awaiting my arrival at a bar!

Saturday 8th February - Gavin, myself and Britney Spears Shoe* (*note below) launched RUN - GAVAID in the kitchen of the Reeve Daniels home in Abbey Wood. The least I could do after delivering a few inappropriate gifts to the household on my previous visit!

Half Marathon-Cambridge...

I've just completed a half marathon in Cambridge. On Sunday 23rd March, I will participate in the Loughborough half marathon. Every day, its a chore to train, I find running very hard and despite everyone telling me I will 'get the bug' its yet to hit me! My social life is on hold and I'm consumed with achieving my task to complete two half marathons and the 2014 London Marathon. Mr Freeze, Windy Miller and Ronnie Rain have not stopped me training throughout the winter months.

keep on running...

PLEASE keep me going and donate some money - what ever you can afford is greatly appreciated by me, GAVAID and Macmillan Cancer Support who do the most admirable job in supporting those living with cancer. Gavin is fighting his cancer, I'm battling to stretch my physical limitations - you just need to reach into your little pocket...

Thank -you xx
