Lottie Andrews: Fundraising for Help for Heroes

Windsor Running Festival · 26 September 2015 to 27 September 2015 ·
Hi there! My name's Lottie, here's my story...
The war in Afghanistan may be over, but for so many of our wounded soldiers who have suffered life-long injuries it will be impossible to forget. I have no doubt that when I am wearing a H4H vest this September in the “Running4Women Windsor 10k”, it will be one of the proudest moments of my life. I have decided to set myself a challenge to try and raise money and awareness for a fantastic charity that is committed to support service men and women so that they do not have to fight these battles alone. To find out more about Help for Heroes does you can visit their website www.helpforheroes.org.uk I was inspired to get involved with the Help for Heroes after reading some of the stories of those people the charity has helped; they have sacrificed so much to ensure our safety and to show my appreciation I’m going to try and raise funds by challenging myself to run 10km in this iconic event. I would like to raise a minimum of £200 but wouldn’t it be great to give a little more? To make this possible, I will need some lovely people to sponsor my run! No matter how big or small any donation will make a massive difference. Thank you
That was what I thought...since writing about my motivations to run I became very ill and have been in and out of hospital. Now I am finally recovering but still am weak and it is likely to be months before I am back in good health. Despite this I am determined to participate in the 10k. I'd been training hard and thought I may just get a decent time, but I know that now that may not be possible to run the whole distance. My new goal is to complete the course and I hope you will all support me in my attempt to raise money for such a wonderful charity!
