Story

Thank-you so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

After originally being declined back in November I have been given a place in the London Marathon 2015. I had had the idea of running for Sue while she was still alive but never had the opportunity to bring the subject up.

As many of you will know, darling Sue passed away from MND on 30th Sept 2014 having suffered from the disease for 2 years, although there were symptoms prior to her diagnosis. The defiant, strong-willed and ever charming Sue remained this despite her illness and I and many of you were able to help, support and continue to love her and the family through her last 2 years.

Sue’s sense of humour, warmth and love for others was infectious no matter what life threw at her. She was an immensely valuable friend and confidant to me and so many more. She wouldn’t have wanted a moment’s sorrow to be attached to her death. I therefore want to do something positive in way of remembering her. The run and the raising of the money I believe is a fitting tribute to her.

My plan is to run in an angel costume as a tribute to Sue who always looked out and cared for me and so many. This idea was influenced by one of her emails she sent me during my exams, “I’ll be standing behind you and crossing all as before.!” These words and the poem which her eldest son read out at her thanksgiving service – “May you always have an angel by your side watching over you in all the things you do” by Douglas Pagels- are the epitome of Sue and the honestly wonderful and loving person that she was.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
