Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Liverpool · 25 May 2014
So, whilst on work experience at Radio Merseyside last August, I discovered that this thing called "The Rock'n'Roll Marathon" was coming to Liverpool. I looked into it a little (as any good work experience helper would), heard what they had to say, pondered what it would be like to run through the city I've been a resident of for nearly 30 years and thought, "That seems cool. I reckon I should do it." I bought a pair of running trainers, went for my first run on the 7th October 2013 (Got that information from a free app I downloaded. How did anybody manage running before all this fancy technology, hey?), and the rest is ongoing history - AKA, the present which will soon become the past. This is getting too wordy now!
Oh, and my sister, Laura, will be running with me. We're helping each other through!
You know that feeling in the pit of your stomach when you start a new job, struggle to deal with certain aspects of life whether it be people, work, places, specific situations or what have you, or have something you need to deal with but you don't quite know how, and it seemingly takes over your life, a life which suddenly seems all to much to handle? Well this can often be known as anxiety - a very real condition that is often brushed to one side or not taken seriously, because it's all "in the head." For some people, it's a phase and can be dealt with. For others, it's an every day occurrence that can consume them and negatively define them - sometimes for a very long time.
With these 26.2 miles I'll be attempting to run come Sunday 25th May, I will be running them in aid of Anxiety UK, for the people who suffer (often silently) from this life altering condition.
Any donations at all would be greatly welcomed and appreciated.
Thank you.
