We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

This year we’ve decided to do things a little differently.

Each year we ask you guys, the fans, to contribute towards our latest “gift” to Rupert – whether it be converse shoelaces, Spongebob themed memorabilia or ice cream ideas.

But for his 21st birthday we wanted to do something big, so we put our heads together and brainstormed. At every turn we encountered the same problem: what to get the man who has everything? It had to be special.

And then we had it. There’s probably nothing that Rupert would love more than to have his fans helping others.

We set out, looking up a list of charities that Rupert has supported in the past and spent time conferring with the Grint family to see which cause would be most suitable.

The one which immediately stood out was the Teenage Cancer Trust and it is that which Rupert and his family have asked us to support here.

Every day in the UK, up to 6 teenagers or young adults (between the ages of 13 and 24) will find out they have cancer that is approximately 2,100 new cases a year. These young people, in the midst of their already difficult journey to adulthood, suddenly find themselves faced with a possible life-threatening illness and very often receiving treatment in inappropriate facilities with inadequate support options.

Teenage Cancer Trust grew by chance, out of the eagerness of a group of women to organise a fashion show to fund a children's intensive care heart unit at Guy's Hospital, London.

The fashion show was a resounding success and the women, high on the adrenalin of triumph, were ready to take on the world. Little did they know - they had!… The women went on to raise funds to build the very first TCT unit at the Middlesex Hospital in London in 1990.”

So, what we are asking you to do this year, is donate your time and resources towards this charity in honor of Rupert. You can donate directly, via this page, or plan activities to fundraise (such as sponsored walks or silences, bake or yard sales...anything you can think of!). Whatever way you can help, you're changing many young people's lives by doing so.

Every donation counts. Whether it be £1/$1 or 100 - the gift is in the giving. Let's see just how much we can raise!

If you are thinking of doing a sponsored event; get in touch! We'd love to feature you within this birthday project for Rupert, telling your story and showing him pictures of your day!!
