Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. As you may be aware I am now running the BUPA 10k on Monday 31st of May on behalf of Prostate UK, unfortunately due to illness I was not able to run the Reading Half Marathon. This will be no easy task for a man who loves food and drinks too much beer - though the organisers have assured me there will be a drink available at the finishing line, I'm hoping it will be something stronger than water!!
I have 2 family members who are suffering from Prostate Cancer, including my dad. By supporting this charity and running the half marathon, I wish to raise awareness and bring support to others who also face similar situations. Donations will help fund further research to find potential cures for Prostate Cancer and enable anyone suffering from any prostate disease to have access to the information they need.
It is far from easy for all concerned when a family member is suffering from cancer, especially in this instance my mum. In addition to professional support and guidance available, as a family we all hope to help Dad through his times of need. Whilst he is still demanding supper, his whisky and bossing us around (all in a nice way Dad) we know he still has a while to go yet :o)
Prostate UK is the only national charity dealing with all three prostate diseases; prostatitis, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate cancer. One in two men will be affected at some stage in their lives. We believe men and those close to them should have access to the best available information to make decisions about their lives and their wellbeing.
Thank you Rupes........
