Hope 24 · 9 May 2015
Inspired by a new found interest in running, Liz Duncan decided that she wanted to push herself further and compete in an organised event and so set forth online to see what was around the local area. This is when the discovery of an event called 'Hope24' was made.
Liz sent out a call to those interested in running with her and a band of 12 responded and stepped up to the mark to create an awesome team of 13.
Subsequently we all realised that this was a challenge never undertaken by any of us before. As a team to run continuously over 24 hours with the aim to complete as many 5 mile laps as possible. However, to make things even more difficult not a team of 13 but 2 teams of 5 and a daring team of 3!
And so the teams were formed as follows;
Premature Acceleration: Liz 'The Destroyer' Duncan(c), Steve 'Coach' Worth and Richard 'Whippet' Matravers.
Cool Runnings: Bridgitte 'The Boss' Worth (c), Joe 'Bionic Cheetah' Westcott, Michelle ' Michellous' Furlong, Elisa 'The Secret Weapon' Elchepp and Adam 'Seabiscuit' Green.
The Warriors: Emily 'Enforcer' Ferris (c), Keiran 'Ginge' Emond, Marcia 'The Pocket Rocket' Randall, Paul 'Smoking Bullet' Sabine and Hanna 'The Hero' Parktock.
We have been training hard. Running before work, in our lunch breaks and after work, sometimes all 3 on the same day!
So this brings us to events people have entered in 'preparation' of the big day;
Exeter 10k: Liz Duncan, Bridgitte and Steve Worth, Michelle Furlong, Marcia Randall and Elisa Elchlepp
Taunton Half Marathon: Richard Matravers
Plymouth Half Marathon: Steve Worth, Liz Duncan and Richard Matravers
Brighton Marathon: Hanna Partock (what a hero!)
Please help us to raise as much money as possible for a very worthy cause, 'Brainwave'.
