Story

Update, December 2017:

A while has passed since the day of the Macmillan Regents Park Run in June, a memory I cherish from an otherwise very difficult year. I have now successfully completed my treatment and am getting back on my feet and in recovery. I am so grateful to every one of you who helped me fundraise, whether running, drawing, dancing, baking and especially donating so generously. We have raised over £35,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. They supported me at every moment after my diagnosis, and so did all of you. Together we’ve made sure others will receive that same support, and I will be forever thankful for your generosity.

I'm Ruth. I'm 21 and at the end of 2016 I was diagnosed with cancer. I am being treated at the amazing Macmillan Centre in London, and the support and care they have offered me since my diagnosis has been invaluable. This situation is the most unexpected and unthinkable to enter your life, especially when you're young. But the Macmillan teams have helped me and so many others come to terms with what we're dealing with. I am now on my road to recovery and I want everyone battling cancer to have access to the medical care and support services offered by Macmillan.

My goal is to raise £25,000!

Your donations will help Macmillan provide their full range of wonderful services, from specialist cancer nurses to support groups.

£10 can help to provide the one to one medical care which matters so much.

£25 can fund an hour on the Macmillan support line, which gives vital information and support.

£50 can ensure a Macmillan nurse is there when someone is diagnosed with cancer.

£100 can provide advice and care on all aspects of coping with both practical and emotional needs for patients and their families.

£204 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for a day, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.

My wonderful friends and family are helping me to fundraise in order to reach my target and you can donate through this page:
