Story

Hey Guys,

I've left this a little late as the Brighton Marathon is only nine days away, but yes, I am running it.

I know this may come as a shock to many of you as I am probably one of the least athletic people in the world but it has always been my ambition to run (or I may be crawling by the end of it) a marathon and I thought that as I turned 30 this year I should do something to mark the occasion - other than getting hammered.

It's not been easy and the training is tough, particularly when it's been so nasty outside, but on Sunday April 18 I will be setting off from Preston Park at 9am with 11,999 other runners who are all raising money for good causes.

My chosen charity is the Chestnut Tree House Children's Hospice in Poling, near Arundel.

They really do provide the most amazing care and support for children who have life-limiting or life-threatening ilnesses. They also support the families too, offering respite care so that the parents can have a break.

Chestnut Tree House is the only place like this in Sussex and relies on donations so it can keep offering the best care it can to families in Sussex.

To find out a bit more about them take a look at their website: http://www.chestnut-tree-house.org.uk

My target it £200 but if I can raise more then that's even better. I am extremely nervous about marathon day but also very excited. I don't expect to get round in record time, I just want to complete it.

Thanks for taking the time to read my email.

Ruth
