Story
About 5 weeks ago, in utter frustration at my lack of fitness, or motivation to do anything about it, and absolutely inspired by a friend's stories of running, I decided to sign up for the Copenhagen marathon.
Given I'd done very little training beforehand I wasn't even sure I'd make it to the starting line!
However, thanks to a quick Google search giving me a 30 day training plan ( yes really! 30 days! Probably don't try this at home kids) plus some excellent advice from a couple of elite athletes I somehow seem to know, I'm now pretty confident I'll at least start and probably finish. Hopefully even within the 6 hour cut-off for the marathon.
So then it seemed like a good opportunity to raise some money for a good cause, hence this page. Don't worry, I'm not intending to start a marathon habit and keep hounding you for donations..
But I would really appreciate your support in getting me over the finish line within the allowed 6 hours. Given the challenges facing them in Syria, Afghanistan, the Mediterranean and many other crisis zones around the world, I think the excellent Medecins sans frontieres/Doctors Without Borders will be able to make very good use of the money.
The usual spiel is below.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and hopefully donate!
Cheers
Ruth
