I began canoeing in July 2013 when Adventure Dolphin Centre invited partially sighted and blind members of Berkshire Vision to take part in a 6 week canoeing course in Pangbourne.  Having developed a love for the sport I have made the scary, some might say bonkers, decision of partnering Jim Lemin, my canoeing coach, in the Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race this Easter. This will entail 125 miles of canal and river canoeing with 77 portages – that’s when we carry our canoe around the locks – in 4 consecutive days.  I am very lucky to have been given the opportunity to discover what I can achieve when given a challenge and to meet so many wonderful, supportive people.  I have decided to use this event to raise funds for both Berkshire Vision and the Adventure Dolphin Centre to help give other people the opportunity to enjoy their chosen sport.
