CHIEF (children's head injury equipment fund) maintains a pool of specialised equipment that can be used in the rehabilitation of children with acquired brain injury at the Great North Children's Hospital. It enables the specialist therapy teams to try equipment that may help a child make progress in their rehabilitation. If the equipment is right for the individual child and is needed long term this is then provided by the NHS and the equipment returned to the  pool to potentially help another child.
