Story
Hi, guys & girls.
The reason i chose to do my second skydive for Crohn's & Colitis (My first was in September '11 for Bowel Cancer UK) is pretty obvious to those who know me. I was diagnosed when i was just 7 years of age, and from what i remember i was ill for a few years before that.
I can't really remember much about being ill when i was younger, probably because i've learnt to block it out. I remeber having a feeding tube on and off for a while. Then when i was 9 (Dec '97) i went up to The Royal Free Hospital in North London, and this is when my life changed. I was surposed to be in hospital for a couple of days but i didn't end up geting out of there until Janurary '98. I came out with two new things; A Iliostony and the happy memory of meeting an Arsenal Legend, Ian Wright. I was told the Iliostomy was for life so i had no other choice but to deal with it.
For the next 9 years i was up and down, never really settled at school and stuggled on a regular basis. Then in Feb '06 i got a blood clot on the brain and was really ill for a while. Then in July '06 my life changed again and i was given the chance to have a reversal and see what life would be without the Iliostomy and bag. Scared because i couldn't remeber life without it.
Since then i've had my ups and downs, the Crohn's isn't to bad now but i suffer badly with perrianal abcesses. I'm currently having a Remicade infusion every 6 weeks. Hopefully this is where i start to take contol of my Crohn's after a long 18+ years.
