Event: Edinburgh Marathon Festival Full Marathon 2022
We raise funds for children & young people to support their health and wellbeing.

Story

I’m Ryan Cruickshanks from Dundee and I’m running a full marathon for CHS! I’ve previously ran the half marathon at the edinburgh marathon festival twice with little training, aware this won’t work this time. I’ve always wanted to push it that but further and do the full marathon. I’ve put this off for a few years now but in November 2020 I became a father. This has given me a bit of a kick up the backside to push myself and set an example for my son Ruairidh. Being able to take on challenges that seem a bit scary is something I want to be able to demonstrate to him. Although he might be a bit little to remember his dad running this!

Ruairidh was born not breathing but we were really lucky to be in Ninewells hospital and the team there managed to save my sons life by giving him the best care he could ask for. The thought of any child not being able to receive the care they need is a horrible thought so this is why I decided to run for CHS. Let’s hope I can raise plenty of money and actually finish the marathon.
