Following successfully completing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks and Snowdon we have decided to take it one step further and cycle almost 200 miles from London to Paris over 3 days starting on Wednesday 17th September 2014.

My mum was diagnosed with Behcet's Disease in 2010 despite suffering from symptoms for about 15 years not knowing what was wrong.  She is currently in remission having found the correct drugs.  These drugs cost £10,000 per year and it is thanks to the Behcet's Syndrome Society that she has funding for these.  The Society worked tirelessly to achieve the opening of 3 specialist Behcet's Centres in the UK and these Centres now hold the budget for the high-cost drugs, removing the postcode lottery of the past.

Behçet's disease is a rare, chronic, lifelong disorder that involves inflammation of blood vessels throughout the body. Symptoms include recurrent ulcers, and eye inflammation and may also cause various types of skin lesions, arthritis, bowel inflammation, and meningitis (inflammation of the membranes of the brain and spinal cord).  Behçet's is a multisystem disease; it may involve all organs and affect the central nervous system, causing memory loss and impaired speech, balance and movement. The effects of the disease may include blindness, stroke, swelling of the spinal cord, and intestinal complications.
