Hello Everyone! I hope you have been well! Thank you for taking your time to visit my page! My name is Salina Ahmed and I am a current student at UCL.
This Summer 2019, I will be participating in a student Volunteer programme, where I will be teaching student in Fiji who are come from disadvantaged backgrounds and currently living in poverty.
Despite Fiji being a beautiful country and recognised for its beautiful beaches, many people are unaware of 1/3 of children in Fiji live below the poverty line, living on one dollar a day. Over 75% of children don't have access to fresh water or proper sanitation.
Over the 4 weeks in Fiji, I will be teaching the Fijian Children English, mathematics and science, as well as including Extra-curricular activities, such as art classes and sports. The extra curricular activities will not only help the students to perform better academically but help them both on a personal level and support them in their health and well-being.
As an aspiring teacher, I strongly believe that education is a pivotal point for a child life regardless of their social economic background.
I am aiming to raise £1,100.00, which goes directly to the Think Pacific Foundation. The Think Pacific programme is a registered programme Fijian charity, working hand in hand with the Fijian Government. They work with local communities in the most remote villages - helping to rebuild lives.
The money will go towards Resources such as books, stationery, tables, uniform for the children, access to clean water, schools meals for the children, access to clean sanitation, training teachers in Fiji, and infrastructure.
Please feel free to make a small donation today because every small contribute will make a big impact on their lives.
I appreciate your time and consideration. Thank you very much. ^__^
