Story

The Streatham Common Co-operative (SCCoop) is a community owned and run social enterprise.  Since 2015 have been managing all services from gardening and litter picking to events in the Rookery Gardens, Streatham Common. We were the first community group in Lambeth to take direct responsibility for managing a Lambeth Park. In 2016 we took over the paddling pool saving it from closure and in 2017 we started regular conservation work in the Streatham Common Local Nature Reserve.

We work closely with the Friends of Streatham Common (FoSC) to protect and enhance Streatham Common and the Rookery Gardens for the benefit of the community.

The majority of our income is generated by ourselves or FoSC either through fundraising, partnerships or income from park assets.  And like many organisations at the moment we have had to cancel all our planned fundraising events this summer.

Recently however we have been targeted by vandals and thieves who have been damaging the gardens and stealing the plants. As a not for profit we have limited reserves to tackle this but our wonderful community want to support this and help protect our beloved gardens by raise funds to add much need surveillance.

About the charity

FOSC promotes the care, conservation and improvement of Streatham Common, the Rookery Garden and Streatham Memorial Garden and the provision of play areas and other educational activities.
