Story
Holly Knight, Hannah Gregson, Victor Galusko, Chris Dickenson, Katherine Taylor, Tom Lawson, Sven Troedson and Lucy Knox are running the Llanelli Half Marathon in March!
We are a group of students at Swansea Medical School hoping to help towards raising £4000 to bring three Gambian Medical students to Wales for a placement to aid their learning and experience. To help with the fundraising we are going to be running Llanelli Half Marathon and give them any money we raise in the process!
We are running Llanelli Half marathon in aid of the Swansea-Gambia link (via St David's Medical Foundation). We know many of you will not be familiar with this so here is a brief overview of what the Swansea Gambia Link do:
The Swansea-Gambia Link aims to:
Form working partnerships between staff and students in Swansea and The Gambia to improve health care outcomes
Establish a broad partnership in health - including clinical care, health service delivery, teaching and research
Emphasise capacity development of staff and students involved in the Link by including education and training as part of activities wherever possible
Identify key areas of common interest that can be developed as stand-alone projects
Focus on facilitating improved health care delivery (i.e. use teaching and training as part of broader projects to improve service delivery)
Please donate as much as you can! As the saying goes - every little helps!
Thank you!
