Story
On our summer holiday last year in Cambodia my son JJ was seriously ill after having a burst appendix.
It turned out he was the lucky one - we were Western, had travel insurance and therefore got the best treatment that could be offered in rural Cambodia. If it wasn't for the one Western Doctor in the local hospital who diagnosed his burst appendix (local doctors had not on 2 separate visits) and oversaw three major operations he would likely have died.
He was cared for by an amazing team of local nurses and doctors who were utterly dedicated and could not have done more for JJ over the 3 weeks he was in hospital.
But the local doctors and nurses could do so much more with better medical resources and training - resources and training that will benefit local people.
To raise money for the hospital that saved JJ's life, Alex and I will be riding the Tour du Mont Blanc on 21 July 2018 - 330km with 8,000m of vertical ascent in one day. Whilst I love cycling this is a truely epic challenge and it was only Alex's harassment that actually persuaded me to take this on! So we'd both love to raise as much money as we can for this really worthy cause.
Any donations for the hospital would be hugely appreciated. Thank you so much for your support.
Please note the title sponsor on this page is Hope Worldwide (a charity who support the hospital financially) as it is not possible to raise money for the hospital directly but all money will go directly to the hospital via Hope Worldwide.
