During this challenging time, it’s more important than ever that we get behind our amazing NHS staff.  They are working tirelessly to ensure they can provide the best possible care for patients and their families.

As May 2020 hosts of STIR (Second Tuesday in Reading), the LDC Reading Team are proud to support the 5,000+ staff at the Royal Berks hospital by completing a 5,000 challenge and donating to The Royal Berks COVID19 Wellbeing Centre. We are delighted that Field Seymour Parkes, as June 2020 STIR hosts have also taken up the baton with their own 5k challenges.

So no excuses, 5,000 of anything counts!   Walking 5,000 steps, 5,000 seconds of dancing, a 5K run, row or cycle, a 5,000 piece jigsaw, knitting 5,000 stitches, 5,000 minutes of silence, climbing 5,000 stairs, lifting 5k weights, cutting out (or eating) 5,000 calories.

And to kick off the fundraising, LDC are donating £5,000.

We'd like to invite you to get involved - do 5,000 of anything and donate as much or as little as you can to support such an important part of our  community in Reading and the Thames Valley at this difficult time.

All funding will go towards The Royal Berks COVID19 Wellbeing Centre – providing much needed support a number of health and wellbeing initiatives that will help to take care of the physical and psychological health of local NHS staff.  A wellbeing centre has been created to provide staff with a place to rest and exercise, as well as change and shower at the end of their shift.  The centre also provides free refreshments, including snacks, hot meals and drinks.
