Magpies 150 Challenge

SUP 150 Challenge · 17 June 2020
During COVID-19 lockdown, the community support in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead warmed many hearts and helped many people cope with the situation. Charities and local volunteering groups went above and beyond their capacity to support the community so this fundraising aims to help them now.
As a volunteer from Magpies in the Community I am calling all enthusiastic paddlers to join me in paddling 150 miles within 15 days and raise money to support this cause #Magpies150Challenge.
Paddle boards, canoe and kayaks are all welcomed! Please share with your family, friends, neighbours and colleagues to bring up the community spirit in your Borough.
For more information about the plan and how to join me follow Paddleboard Maidenhead page on Facebook and keep an eye for the updates section.
The covid-19 pandemic has had a significant on many of Maidenhead and Windsors charitable and voluntary sector organisations. Some have experienced overwhelming increases in the demand for their support and services. Some have needed to develop new service delivery approaches. Others have had to reduce services or simply stop their service delivery.Common to all however is the serious financial impact they are experiencing due to loss of fundraising income or increased demand for services. The reality is that many local charities will struggle to survive or maintain the provision of services without additional financial support. The Magpies 150 Challenge will raise funding for 15 local charities. All provide vital services and activities for the benefit of people living in Maidenhead, Windsor and the surrounding areas and are in desperate need of additional funding support. All funding raised will be split equally between the 15 charities.
