All Aboard is a collaboration between Polwarth Parish Church and People Know How. Launching in 2021, our new Barge will offer a range of activites and programmes to support young people and their families from all across Edinburgh!

Story

All Aboard is a canal-side collaboration between Polwarth Parish Church and People Know How to run a barge from the Polwarth Pontoon. In partnership we aim to:

  • Host our Positive Transitions Service, working with young people and their families in partner schools across Edinburgh
  • Enhance our other projects, creating opportunities to learn, grow and socialise outdoors, experiencing something new and exciting while increasing confidence and participating in the community
  • Provide opportunities for individuals to gain volunteering or work experience
  • Increase positive engagement with The Union Canal through cultural, social and spiritual events
  • Develop intergenerational community cohesion with a model of gathering, sharing, doing and celebrating together

The Union Canal is the community’s cultural heritage and our canal boat will be a safe space in which to explore this and new experiences, while surrounded by nature.

People Know How and Polwarth Parish Church have confirmed the purchase of an All Aboard Barge, set to be launched early in 2021. You can help support this project by making a donation here.
