Story

My son Curtis is a severe asthmatic. This is such a scary condition, words cannot begin to describe. Over the years we have had to be admitted to Wexham Park hospital on numerous occasions when Curt has been having an attack.

His attacks are often very severe and dangerous and as a parent very difficult to go through, he has been in the High Dependancy unit before in a room where a 6 month old baby had just been brought back to life with the shockers because it had had a really bad asthma attack. When he has had a bad attack we have had to stay in hospital for up to 4 days. Asthma is difficult to describe, you can never just say oh it lasts for 10 minutes, every attack is different and some can go on for days. Throughout these times the doctors and nurses have invariably saved my sons life and I will never be able to express my thanks to them . What I would like to do is give something back to a hospital that has done so much for me and the local community and I do think it is often under-appreciated.

During our long stays I would take 5 minutes out and go to the parents room to get a cup of tea. The parents room on the Childrens Ward is desperately in need of a revamp. The aim that I have is to redecorate the parents room, I have spoken to the hospital and have been given approval to do this, so all money I raise is going to go specifically to this project. I would like to repaint the room, furnish with a new sofa, table, bookshelf, kitchen appliances and a new stereo. The idea is to try and make a tranquil area which will be calming and nurturing for all parents to go to. This I believe will help so much as it will give parents a chance to regenerate and be able to go back and look after and support their poorly child.

This is my dream that I have had for a long time and it is very important to me. To anyone who is happy to support me in any way in this project I would just  like to say Thank you ! xxxx
