We provide emergency food parcels to local people in crisis.

Story

In the UK, more than 14 million people are living in poverty – including 4.5 million children!

2.5 million emergency food parcels were distributed to people in crisis by food banks in the Trussell Trust network between 1 April 2020 and 31 March 2021, a 33% increase over previous year.

Every donation has a huge impact on those struggling to put food on their table. With the continued increase in economic pressure the requirements for foodbanks are going to become greater than ever.

All four of us took on this huge personal challenge so we can support some of those who need it most.

All donations have been gratefully received and gave us huge motivation when times got tough throughout our crossing of the English Channel.

We suffered seasickness both on the boat and while swimming. The tides and weather were most definitely working against us throughout the swim but we dug deep to get the job done!

Many of the boats that went out that day had to turn back,  making us one of only a few to make it and land in France.

About the charity

Manchester Central Foodbank is a charity serving emergency food to people in crisis. We work with professional referrers to support over 1000 people a month across Central, North and East Manchester with a food parcel as well as signposting support and information to get them out of their crisis.
