At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Sunday 6th September I will be running the Richmond Half Marathon. This is set to be a massive challenge as I currently spend 90% of my life sat behind a desk!

I will be running in memory of my Grandma Pauline and my Mum's cousin Nargisbai who both suffered from vascular dementia. Dementia is an umbrella term and is used to describe the symptoms that may include memory loss, confusion, disorentation and loss of communication skills. Dementia is caused when the brain is damaged by diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease or a series of mini strokes and affects 1 in 6 people over the age of 80.

The Alzheimer's Society carries out essential research into the cause, cure, care and prevention of all types of dementia and also provides services throughout the UK to support those who have been affected.
