St Catherine’s cares for patients and families who are affected by life-shortening conditions, at the hospice and in people’s own homes across Chorley, Preston and South Ribble. Our specialist care helps people enjoy the best possible quality of life to the end of life.

Story

Please help me raise money for St Catherine's Hospice which is a charity that holds a very special place in my heart.....

It is over a year since dad died and, whilst I mourn the future that I will never have with him, I draw comfort from the fun filled years I spent with him but, most relevant to this story, I get HUGE comfort from the experience of dad’s last days which were spent at St Catherine’s hospice in Preston. The staff looked after dad with kindness, dignity and compassion but they also gave such huge support and guidance to mum, Nick and I. It was such a blessing at such a bleak time.

And so here I am, living the cliched equation of grief + impending significant birthday = a ridiculous run: the Royal Parks half marathon on 8 October to be precise.

I would like to run the half marathon in order to raise money to support those who work at St Catherine’s hospice in Preston so that, in turn,  they can continue to look after those individuals and families who need them most. St Catherine’s is an independent local charity and receives around a third of its funding from the NHS; the rest is raised through the amazing efforts and wonderful generosity of supporters.

So please do consider giving to my chosen charity so that they can continue to shed light for those who are at at the darkest, crappiest of crap times.
