Story
**** I ran the Reading 1/2 Marathon today in the official time of 1:59:54. I am still amazed I ran it in uder 2 hours! Miles 10-13 were so hard but the thought of all the money I have raised got me through. Thank you for all your generosity. I really appreciate it!****

My twin daughters, Emily and Carys, were born prematurely at St Peter's hospital, Chertsey at 25 weeks gestation on 31st December 2007. They weighed 1lb11oz and 1lb8oz respectively and it was touch and go whether they would pull through for a number of weeks. Both required ventilation, fought a number of infections and received multiple blood transfusions. The staff in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit were amazing not only in their care of the girls but in their support for us as parents.
Emily came home after 31/2 months and Carys came home after 4 months. Carys needed oxygen at home for a further year and since then we haven't looked back. We are so very lucky to have such a great facility on our doorstep to help these babies born too early or sick.
I have always been a keen jogger but have not done anything more adventurous than the Marlow 5 mile run. I decided at the beginning of the year as the girls turned 3 to attempt a 1/2 marathon in aid of the Neonatal unit at St Peter's. I am running the Reading 1/2 marathon on the 20th March 2011. I would love to run it in under 2 hours but we will have to see!!
