Story
Josh and I have foolishly signed ourselves up for the Tough Guy Challenge, which takes place in July of this year. It claims to be “the world’s safest, most dangerous taste of mental and physical pain, fear and endurance”. It is essentially a rigorous obstacle course spanning out over approximately thirteen miles and consists of various challenges such as running through fire, swimming through underwater tunnels and crawling under electric fences. It is a notorious event, with participants coming from across the globe, who are not necessarily concerned with their times but rather with a goal of simply completing the race. More about the race can be seen on its website: http://www.toughguy.co.uk/
I originally signed up for the event as a consequence of a lost bet with Josh, however, not wanting me to get all the glory (and consequent attention from the girls) Josh decided to sign up too. After much procrastination we have finally begun our training and nervously anticipate the race which is slowly approaching. We do not want our pain to be in vein, so we are doing the race for two different charities. I am raising money for Multiple Sclerosis Fundraising Society, which raises money to help families affected by the illness, while Josh is doing it for Pahar Trust Nepal. It is a charity which was originally established by two ex-Ghurkhas and builds schools in rural areas of Nepal, giving the local children an education and subsequently providing them with a real opportunity to improve their lives.
I am aware that you probably receive many requests for sponsorship and cannot be expected to give on all accounts. However, I have given myself a relatively modest target of raising £1000 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society and anything you can give to help reach this goal would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your support
