Story

I was due to run for Hospice UK in the London Marathon 2020 and this was originally postponed until 2021 due to COVID.  Having then caught COVID a few weeks before the 2021 race, I have had to wait a further year to run the London 2022 Marathon in October - essentially training for this marathon three times!  My knees are definitely feeling it and I cannot wait to finally cross the finish line.

Due to the last three years, as the world has paced itself back to 'normality', it is more important than ever to raise money for charities given what they have missed out on as a result of the pandemic.  Please read my story below and any donations are extremely well-received.

Four years ago now, I saw, like so many, just how cruel cancer is and the damage it causes, both physically and mentally, for everyone involved.

During this time, the South Buckinghamshire Community
Hospice at Butterfly House in High Wycombe provided invaluable support to me directly, without which the journey would have been even more difficult.  I cannot thank the Butterfly House enough for the help offered to me in what was an emotionally, mentally and physically exhausting time.

I am proud that I now have the opportunity to thank those who truly helped by raising money through sponsorship and run for Hospice UK in the London Marathon 2022.  If I can raise enough to help just one person, like South Bucks helped me, then it has been worth it.

Hospice UK supports the development of hospice care
in the UK, such as that at the South Buckinghamshire Community Hospice at Butterfly House.  By supporting hospice professionals, championing the voice of hospice care and promoting clinical excellence, it helps hospice care providers to deliver the highest quality of care to people with life-limiting or terminal conditions and their families, whilst they continue in their battle against this evil disease.

It is my hope that the money raised can contribute
towards Hospice UK fulfilling its mission and aims.  Cancer is a battle that can be fought and Hospice UK aims to empower individuals, communities and populations so that Cancer does not win.

As I have shared, I cannot really express in words the monumental difference the support given to me has made.  In fact, I do not even think there are the words in the dictionary to even begin to describe the impact this help has had.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any donations that you can spare.  Every penny raised can, and will, make a difference to someone who is supported by Hospice UK.

Like I have said, if the money I raise can make the same difference to just one life, that Hospice UK have made to mine and the people I care about, then it would have been worth it.

Please follow this journey and be a part of it.  Together we can all make a difference.

Thanks again,
Sam
