Story
In November 2015, I lost my Father, Martin, to Vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (VEDS). This was previously known as EDS Type 4.
Annabelle's Challenge is the number one charity in the UK in the fight against VEDS. Central to this charity is a brave young girl from Bury named Annabelle, who provides inspiration for others to raise money to help combat the condition.
VEDS is connective tissue disorder that affects arteries and internal organs making them incredibly fragile thus creating a life threatening risk of immediate rupture.
Running and generally keeping fit was something my father loved and I could never keep up when we ran together. However, since he passed away, running has become a major part of my life and completing a marathon has been added to my bucket list.
Over the course of the rest of this year, I will be completing a number of organised events leading up to my first marathon on the 8th of December in order to raise money for Annabelle's Challenge.
The events are as follows:
- 18th May - 5K Colour Run, Windsor ✅
- 22nd June - Battersea 10K ✅
- 3rd July - Hard as Snails 10K, Guildford ✅
- 10th July - Gibbet Hill 10K ✅
- 4th August - Wimbledon Common Half Marathon ✅
- 22nd September - Scottish Half Marathon ✅
- 5th October - 10k Rough Runner, London South ✅
- 20th October - Great South Run, 10 miles, Portsmouth ✅
- 8th December - Goodwood Motor Circuit Marathon ✅
(I'm also hoping to complete 50 Parkruns by the end of the year!) ✅
Any amount of money donated is a great help towards a wonderful cause and it would mean the world to me if I could reach my target.
