Hearing words like 'autism', or 'learning difficulty' can be devastating for parents. Seeing someone you care about affected by stroke is devastating. B.I.R.D. offers a therapy programme to achieve their true potential. Your support will help more families seeking our support.

Story

Lia was born 7 weeks premature on Christmas Eve 2009, this was a shock and surprise to all of us. She spent her first week in an incubater in SCUBU and her first month in hospital before she came home.

Lia has now grown in to a beautiful energetic and caring 8 year old.

We have noticed as Lia has been growning up that she has been suffering with some issues such as always being tired, yet not being able to sit still, struggling to concentrate, suffering from mood swings and having poor fine motor skills.

We discovered the B.I.R.D Charity by accident, and had Lia assessed as soon as we could. We have discovered that Lia is suffering a high percentage of brain disfunction, this now explains why she can be tired or irritable as her brain is working on over drive to complete every day tasks that most of us take for granted.

With the help of the B.I.R.D Charity we hope to retrain Lia's brain so that it is not working on over drive all the time and she can complete every day tasks with ease, like any girl her age.
