Sam's Half Ironman Triathlon Challenge

Sundowner Triathlon · 1 September 2018
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Just under a month away on the 1st of September, I will be swimming 1.9km, cycling 90km, and then topping it all off with a half-marathon (21km) to raise funds for a charity very close to my heart, Afrika Tikkun.
Afrika Tikkun was founded in South Africa in 1995, shortly after Nelson Mandela’s election when it became apparent that, while the political legacies of apartheid had largely been dismantled, the economic legacies would last a lot longer.
Afrika Tikkun is dedicated to reducing child poverty and youth unemployment in South Africa by empowering young people with the necessary tools to access the economy and supporting their development from an early age. AT has three main full-time education-based projects. The Early Childhood Development centres, the Child & Youth Development project (an after-school programme for children and teenagers) and a Career Development Programme. They also run healthcare and women and youth empowerment programmes.
I do part-time work for Afrika Tikkun and have been to their centres in South Africa and witnessed first-hand the amazing transformative work that happens every day. Yet even still, with poverty and unemployment levels so high, the need for further support is huge. Currently 66.8% of South African children live in poverty and youth unemployment is at 53.7%
AT is an incredibly unique charity in that all administrative costs are absorbed by the Board. So when you donate, you can be sure that all of the money is going directly to the people that need it most and you'll be making an immediate and life-changing difference.
£1.5 feeds provides four meals for one child for one day
£10 can provide meals for a whole class at our Early Childhood Development Centres for one day
£20 can feed four children for an entire month
£30 can fund one month of tuition for a child in pre-school
If you want to know more about the amazing work that Afrika Tikkun does, please check out the website (https://afrikatikkun.org/) or get in touch with me directly.
