Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the Brighton Marathon to raise money for the excellent work that the Royal Brompton Hospital carries out.
The hospital has a close place in my families heart after our son when only 2 days old was diagnosed with a Large Perimembranous Ventricular Septal Defect and Atrial Septal Defect, which for most people is a large hole in the heart and a smaller hole also which required open heart surgery to repair.
Being a first time parent is scary enough for most people without having to deal with the thoughts of your child going through this sort of surgery.
Then at only 10 weeks old our son Freddie was taken in to receive the very much needed surgery to fix his heart.
After 7 long hours, Freddie’s surgery was successful and the care and attention he was given was world class right from the first diagnostic. Through to post operation the support and care he and we received from the consultants , to the specialist nursing teams, the highly skilled surgeons to the many fantastic nurses on the PICU and Rose Wards, no amount of thank you’s would ever be enough.
Fast forward to today and Freddie is now 5 months old and like a completely different child and this is down to the excellent level of care and attention and skilled work given to our son, which for the Royal Brompton hospital is just part of what they do and something they do day in and day out for a number of children and adults and for their families.
So therefore this is me giving back to them, for what they gave to me and my family, our fixed and healthy little boy.
