Highland Hospice provides specialist care and support to terminally ill patients and their families in the Highlands. We have an In Patient Unit in Inverness, provide day care across the region and offer bereavement counselling for relatives. We aim to provide dignity when time matters most.

Story

Thank you for visiting my page.

After enduring severe pain and swelling in my feet, knees and hands for almost a year, in September of last year I was finally diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. The disease is now under control which has been such a relief. My illness is not life threatening, so I decided to challenge myself firstly with a cycle from London to Alicante, then on returning home completing the Ride the North 170 mile challenge.

I am raising money for the Highland Hospice, who operates in and around the Highland area. They provide palliative care that aims to manage pain and other symptoms, reduce suffering and enhance the quality of life of terminally ill patients who require tailored treatment. The Highland Hospice is a charity and no charge is made to their patients or families. They only receive around a third of their funding from the NHS, and rely on support from the public for them to continue carrying on with their great work. If you would like to know more, you can get in touch with me or visit their website: http://highlandhospice.org/the-hospice

I can empathise with the patients after also experiencing extreme pain. My aim is to raise as much money as possible, and I have set my target fundraising total at £2,000. If I can help others manage their pain, and increase their quality of life it will all be worth it. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Please remember to add Gift Aid if you can.

To raise money I have put together a raffle, with thanks to Johnstons for donating a cashmere rug and merino wool scarf, thanks to Windswept Brewery who have contributed a beer gift pack and thanks to Scotmid who have supplied a £20 gift voucher as prizes!

For any donation of £5 - 1 raffle ticket will be purchased. Please remember to leave your name and a contact address, email or number too. For £20 donations, 5 tickets will be purchased instead of 4!

Thank you for your time,

Sam
