A lot of you will have either had first hand experience or have heard through someone close, how amazing St Andrews Hospice in Grimsby are. 

My mum / Sams Mother in law was diagnosed with cancer for the first time, when she just turned 50. 

She was the strongest & bravest inspiration we’ve ever known  

Ruth battled cancer for nearly 12 years, breast cancer, bowel cancer and finally lung cancer. Catching covid, sepsis, pneumonia and many more illnesses along the way. 

She kept on smiling and fighting until the very last day, she’d have given anything to have one more day with her family and so would we. 

Mum was so scared to go into hospital, it was never a good experience for her there and things always went from bad to worse. St Andrews was very different though. While reluctant and nervous at first, the amazing staff and surroundings soon put mum at ease  

Mum went into St Andrews Hospice to help get her pain relief right and she sadly never left. 

The staff at St Andrews gave unbelievable care to mum. They made her feel at home and not scared. They welcomed Steve and the rest of the family anytime day or night. 

St Andrews gave Mum the best possible end to her life which was taken far too soon.  She’d battled and been in pain for so long, we can’t thank them enough for letting her find peace and finally be pain free. 

So with this in mind, everything St Andrews have done for our Mum & so many other loved ones out there, for everything Mum went through, this is the least we can do!
