Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  In 2020 I lost my youngest brother, Matthew "Nipper" Gurney. Nipper had suffered from Crohns Disease and due to his symptoms a soft tissue sarcoma in his colon went undetected and spread to his liver. He very sadly passed away just after he turned 43. Nipper was an amazing human being so full of life and laughter and loved by all who knew him. The things he loved most in life were his family, friends and music. He is missed so very much and as his passing was during Covid Restrictions, there were many people who did not get to say goodbye at his funeral. We are having a mini festival in  June 2023 inspired by Nipper through a celebration of music amongst friends, family & musicians from multi genres. All working together to support great causes which were important to Nipper. Nipper's band Jimi and The Jams is playing at the festival and I am going to be singing a few numbers with them if I can reach my target of raising £250. I'm no great singer so this is well out of my comfort zone. Your support would be greatly appreciated 🙏

Please give what you can to help children with Crohn's disease, Ulcerative Colitis and IBDU, collectively known as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Children CICRA with IBD have a very unpleasant lifelong condition, requiring specialist care throughout childhood which does not have the high profile of other conditions such as cancer or cystic fibrosis. It is common for children with IBD to hide their condition from their friends due to embarrassment. Support for children and families in this often lonely position is vital to their wellbeing. CICRA offer support for families and funds vital research. Please give what you can.
