Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This year's silence will run for 48 hours across 2 shifts at Caffe Nero in Alton. From Friday 8th- until Sunday 10th of November.
*Update*
This all started at the end, of last year when I did a sponsored silence to raise money and awareness for The Motor Neurone Disease Association after a customer was diagnosed with the disease last year. Below is the summary of the original challenge which I completed.
After doing this I asked Caffe Nero to help. So from the start of this year through the Nero Foundation they are matching pound for pound all money that myself and my colleagues across the area manage to raise. I will keep this page active so anyone who wishes to donate can do so. Remember any money paid in here will be matched by Caffe Nero.
I will also update here any other challenges myself or my colleagues do to raise money.
On Saturday 15th December 2018 I will be silent, while working my shift at Caffe Nero in Alton. I will be making coffees, serving customers etc. But not being able to speak! One of the symptoms of motor neurone disease is loosing the ability to talk, so that is why I want to complete this challenge. Those who know me, know how much I like to talk, especially while serving behind the bar! So this will be very challenging for me. I may even have to tape my mouth shut to prevent myself from uttering a word.
I have been the manager of Caffe Nero in Alton for almost 2 years now. During that time I have built good relationships with my regular customers in the community. One of these has recently been diagnosed with motor neorone disease, I felt that I wanted to help in any way I can. Through talking to him, he said all he really wants is to raise awareness about this terminal illness. The charity has helped him with care and support and they also fund research to fight the disease that affects up to 5000 adults in the UK at any one time.
