Story

Last summer I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. After I had recovered from the shock of being told that I had a potentially life threatening disease, I quickly realised that I was in fact very lucky. My cancer was picked up at an early stage and with the help of some highly skilled health professionals there was no reason why I shouldn't make a full recovery.

In addition to the medics and my family and friends there was another group of people that helped me through this awful time. I am referring to the volunteers at the Breast Cancer Care charity who take the time to talk though the concerns of many newly diagnosed sufferers of this dreadful disease. I now know that regardless of the reassurances given by the doctors, there is nothing to beat talking to someone who has first-hand experience of the frankly frightening treatment you are about to face.

For this reason I am very keen to give something back to this very worthwhile cause. So whilst 10 miles might not seem very much, it is a challenge for me at the moment and I would be extremely grateful of your support.

Many thanks for taking the time to read my story.
