In August, my husband and best friend Jim Hewitt passed away from Cancer. As you can imagine my life has been turned upside down and without the help and support of family and friends I am not sure how I would have coped.
I have had a lot of support from Nightingale House Hospice, bereavement counselling and it is for that reason myself and my son Nick are going to take on a 50 mile Bike ride to support the great work that everyone at the Hospice does.
For everyone that knows’ me well and for those that don’t, I am much more used to being on the back of Jim’s Hayabusa motorbike, so quite a challenge and was a shock to the system to get on a bike without an engine! I know that he will be smiling and with me every turn of the wheel.
I have my son Nick to thank as it was he who challenged me to do 50 miles on a bike without an engine, as he wanted to do something to raise fund’s in Jim’s memory. So although I may have a very sore bottom at the end of it and may not want to see a bike again, I at least will know that the pain will be worth it, as the money we hope to raise, will be used to help other families on their Cancer Journey.
I am sure that you all know someone who has or has had cancer, as it affects 1 in 3 people, very scary statistics, so please help me by donating whatever you can so that everyone with cancer and their families get the support and care they need, when they need it most.
