Story

Thanks for supporting us. My very good friend Sue Newton-Keane and mum’s very good friends Tracey Lubbock and Helene Attwood and I, are undertaking this mighty hike in memory of my mum. My lovely mum Peggy Marcantonio died on 9 November 2018, just weeks before she was 80. She had had two strokes and was doing well. She then had a massive stroke on 6 November and was given a CT scan on 7 November. They discovered that mum had a massive tumour on her kidney and it had spread to her liver and beyond. Mum lasted just 44 hours from diagnosis. This was mum’s third primary cancer,  she survived breast cancer in 1985 and lung cancer in 2015. MacMillan nurses supported mum during this time. Sadly one in two of us will experience cancer, and everyone’s life is touched by cancer in one way shape or form.
