Myself and Tina Woodford are running the London Marathon on Sunday 23rd April. I was lucky enough to get a charity place with Headway Surrey who supports people with brain injuries their families and carers, and promotes understanding of the implications of brain injury throughout Surrey. Headway Surrey will also provide support for brain injuries from causes other than injury e.g. encephalitis, tumour, stroke infection etc. Little did I know at the time of taking on this challenge, that the Marathon would be on my late father’s birthday, he would have been 82, but was taken by a stroke when he was only 61 years old.

Tina got a club place with Epsom Allsorts Ladies running group and is running this in memory of her father, David Davies who ran 29 marathons mostly London, due to securing places as athletic secretary for the City of London Police. He was training for the London Marathon when he passed away from brain injury following a cardiac arrest in March 2009. Tina has taken on this challenge to finish what her father started.

We know that with every step we take to complete this Marathon is going to be a hard challenge, but not as hard for some families living with the consequences of a brain injury.
Please support us in our adventure that we face and help us raise funds for a wonderful charity.

Thank you xx
