So last August I set myself a challenge of running my first half marathon 13.1 miles. I was reasonably fit at the time but not running fit having done nothing more than a 10k. With the help of newark striders I got through the half marathon in a respectable time of 2 hours 6 mins.
After the heat of Summer had long departed I started to think what next and applied for a place in the London Marathon (didn’t get in) then a friend (maybe soon to be ex-friend) suggested Brighton Marathon. So here I am today (26.2.18) 47 days away from my first and last marathon. I’ve done 16 miles so far so just another 10 to do!!! Again thanks to striders for their help and support.
Those who know me know that I’m a glass half full kind of person and am really fortunate to have a happy and healthy family. I know others are not so fortunate I do have friends who have fought cancer and those still battling it now. Everyone knows someone. I’m not money rich but I am rich in life’s blessings so this is my chance of celebrating my life, challenging myself and helping those facing the battle against cancer.
If you can spare a penny or a pound I’d be very grateful and promise to do my very best to complete 26.2 without too much complaining !!!!
