Sarah is Living Below the Line!

Live Below the Line · 4 November 2013
What are we doing?
From the 4th to the 8th of November several members of the ASAP Birmingham Chapter are going to live off £1 a day for 5 days. We are hoping to get sponsored by family and friends to raise money to send deserving children to school in rural Nepal. When we started, £9,610 had been raised for the project; 94% of the target. We are hoping to raise money for the last 6%!
Every member who is participating in this challenge will buy food/drink worth a total of £5, to live off of for 5 days. The only free goods are tap water and salt. We are going to update you by posting pictures, our shopping lists and recipes.
This challenge provides a unique glimpse into the reality of people who have to live ‘below the line’ every day.
Who are we fundraising for?
Two-thirds of Nepal's population is illiterate. With high dropout rates, insufficient teachers and poor education materials, schools in villages are in dire conditions, and school-aged children are regularly migrating to urban areas to work as domestic servants or labourers.
The Nepal Youth Foundation is working to change the futures of these children. The NYF builds schools, trains teachers, provides education materials, and pays scholorships for children who would otherwise not have the means to attend school.
