Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-shortening genetic condition that slowly destroys the lungs and digestive system. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the only UK-wide charity fighting for a life unlimited, when everyone living with CF can look forward to a long, healthy life. www.cysticfibrosis.org.uk

Story

Hi All,

Thank you for visiting my just giving page.

Being in my 40th year I am currently having a mid-life crisis and have decided to do 2 challenges for charity, with the aim to raise as much money towards finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.

The 1st is to jump 10,000 feet out of a plane!

After a crazy conversation in the school playground one morning, 4 of us have decided to do a Sky Dive.  With friends Joanne, Damian and Stuart, I am going to jump 10,000 feet in a tandem sky dive in Lancaster in March.  The thought of this is extremely daunting, but something that I have always wanted to do.

The 2nd is to run the Manchester 10K on the May 18th 2014.

Most of you will know that I am by no means a “runner” and this is a big challenge for me to complete. I have recently started training and it will be many months before I can run a couple of km, let alone 10k!

I hope that along with two great friends Louise and Nikki, who are completing the run with me, that we reach the finish line in one piece and as fast as we can!

 Why Cystic Fibrosis?

My nephew Johnny was diagnosed with CF at 4 weeks old, he is now 3 years old.  Johnny has had an incredibly tough start in life but he is a little fighter!  Louise, his Mum describes him as “brave, bolshie, loud, fearless, super naughty but super cute. He bravely accepts his daily cocktail of medicines and physio  - forever with a smile”

Cystic fibrosis however, is no smiling matter and is a progressive, chronic and life shortening (inherited) condition primarily affecting the respiratory and digestive systems in children and young adults. The sweat glands and reproductive systems are usually affected and individuals with CF have an average life expectancy of 30 years.

Every penny of the money raised will go to the CF Trust, who are working incredibly hard to find an effective treatment for CF through medical research and in particular the gene therapy programme.

Thank you in advance for your donation, it really is much appreciated.

 Lots of love

 Sarah
