We are the National Deaf Children’s Society, the leading charity for deaf children. We give expert support on childhood deafness, raise awareness and campaign for deaf children’s rights, so they have the same opportunities as everyone else.

Story

Hey everyone, welcome to my JustGiving fundraising page!  I will be running in the Vitality London 10000 in London on May 28th. This is an annual 10km running event and the charity I will be running for is the National Deaf Children’s Society.

The National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) are dedicated to the needs of all deaf children, their families and carers. 90% of deaf children are born to hearing parents with little or no experience of deafness or knowledge of how to communicate with a deaf person. Without the right support, deaf children and young people are vulnerable to isolation, abuse, bullying, poor self-esteem and low levels of achievement.

When I was diagnosed as profoundly hearing impaired at 18 months old, the NDCS provided a support system for my family, who at that stage were new to the deaf world. Without the guidance of the NDCS community throughout my childhood and school years I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Having said that, I would like other deaf children to benefit like myself from the work of the NDCS. So please donate, any contributions will be welcome for this cause!
