L'Arche builds communities with people who have learning disabilities. Together with assistants, they live in ordinary houses, with choice in and access to work, therapy and local resources. The nine L'Arche communities in England, Scotland and Wales are founded on Christian values, also welcoming people of other faiths and none.

Story

As many of you know, two years ago I was told after a knee operation, that I should never run again. I have however always wanted to run the London marathon and therefore this year have managed to get a place through my wonderful running club Newport and District Running Club. As my physio has said, it will be very painful but you only have one life. I will be slow but I'm going to enjoy every minute of it.

I'm raising money for L'arche a charity very close to my heart as they have provided my wonderful brother-in-law Martin with a semi-independent life in his own flat. Martin was born with Cerebral Palsy, is confined to a wheelchair and requires 24 hour care. He is however a very Independant man with a love for DJing, loud TV, terrible jokes and shopping and so can enjoy all these hobbies now. L'arche was a lifeline for him as for most of his life he was sat in what can only be described as a soulless institutionalised home.

So I'm trying to raise money for Larche so they can help other disabled people to have as normal a home as possible.
